Validation/Verification of Canadian nanosatellite for monitoring greenhouse gasses
Shortly after the successful launch of its first satellite, GHGSat has already performed over 100 measurements of greenhouse gas emissions from industrial sites around the world.
GHGSat-D (Claire) has monitored oil & gas facilities, power plants, coal mines, landfills, and even animal feedlots – and measurements have been performed on every continent. LOOKNorth is supporting validation of satellite performance against ground-truth measurements taken at selected industrial sites. LOOKNorth’s $113,000 funding has leveraged additional funding of $358,000 from Sustainable Development Technology Canada and Manitoba Hydro, as well as support from industry partners Suncor Energy, Hydro Quebec and Manitoba Hydro.
